Visiting Balingasag, Misamis Oriental

A second class mucipality in the province of Misamis Oriental divided into 30 political barangays with over 60,000 people living in approximate 10,000 households. This small town in Mindanao is one of the battleground between the CPP-NPA (communist rebel) and government armed forces for almost 3 decades. Nevertheless the population of people here tried to live the peacefull way. 

How to get to Balingasag? Its more or less one hour drive by private vehicle and 1 1/2 hr drive to 2 hours via public transport from Cagayan De Oro City ( 52.8 kilometers distance), you can take buses located at Agora bus terminal in Cagayan De Oro City bound for Butuan, Gingoog and Surigao, they will drop you in the crossing of the national highway of Balingasag where you can find many tricycle to bring you to town proper.
